Jaipur rain-clouding

The southern parts of Rajasthan have received widespread moderate rains in the last 24 hours. Scattered rains were also observed over western and adjoining northern parts of Rajasthan.

Significant rains were observed over Mount Abu which received 15 mm, Jawai Dam 14 mm, Udaipur 13 mm, Sawai Madhopur 11 mm, Barmer 9 mm, Bikaner 8 mm and Kota recorded 8 mm of rains.

These rains have been occuring in the presence of a Cyclonic Circulation which lies over Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas. The Axis of Monsoon Trough passes through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and then towards Bay of Bengal. Also, a Cyclonic Circulation persists over Northeast Arabian sea and adjoining Gujarat coast.

Weather has been constantly dry over the capital city, Jaipur for the last many days. However isolated localized weather activity has been observed over the city in the last 24 hours. But there were no significant rains. At present the temperatures are high in mid-30s.

Jaipur has not been receiving any significant rains since the last ten to twelve days. The last good spell over the city was recorded between August 14 and 17. Since then, weather is almost dry and humid. Now we expect on and off light rains to continue over the city for another two to three days.

Soon, the axis of Monsoon Trough will move in North direction and a Low-Pressure Area which is developing over Bay of Bengal will also move in westerly direction. Moreover, a Cyclonic Circulation which is over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, is likely to move in Northwest direction towards North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan leading to increase in rain activities over East and Central Rajasthan.

Due to this, moderate to isolated heavy rains might lash Southern parts of the state such as Udaipur, Mount Abu, Jalore and Kota. Some parts of North Rajasthan may also receive patchy rains.

While Ajmer might receive light to moderate rains, Kota will receive light to moderate activity, mainly light rains will lash Jodhpur, Jaisalmer will remain dry however.

During that time, we expect Jaipur to receive good showers. As a relief, the rain activities will increase over the city between September 3 and 6. During that time a few moderate spells and isolated intense spells cannot be ruled out over the city. Also, the temperatures will come in comfortable range.
