After observing plentiful days of wintry chill and fog, rains finally lashed the state of Punjab.

Most pockets of the state have witnessed varied intensity rain and thundershowers in last 24 hours. Due to these rainy spells, maximum temperatures have also witnessed a drop by 3-4 degrees.

In a span of 24 hours, from 08:30 am as on Wednesday, Pathankot recorded a whopping 33 mm of rains, Amritsar 14.8 mm, Chandigarh 12.5 mm, Ludhiana 16 mm, Patiala 12.6 mm, and Jalandhar recorded 5 mm of rainy spells.

As per Skymet Weather, an induced cyclonic circulation persists over Rajasthan. In the wake of this weather system, most parts of Punjab have witnessed light to moderate showers. These rains are expected to continue for another 24 hours.

Furthermore, minimum temperatures are also expected to fall and remain below normal for next 24 hours. Thereafter, this weather system is expected to move towards the east and therefore, rains are expected to follow a decreasing trend.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, by the afternoon of January 27, rains are expected to take a backseat over the state and Punjab is expected to witness clear weather conditions. A gradual rise in minimums is also expected.
