Yesterday, Vidarbha remained very hot with isolated heatwave conditions in some pockets. The maximum in Bramhapuri settled at 45 degrees Celsius. However, it was not just heat which was dominant over the state of Maharashtra. In fact, thundershowers were witnessed during the evening hours with gusty winds over parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada and South Madhya Maharashtra.
Heavy rainfall activity was observed over Solapur to the tune of 55 mm which is the highest in the decade for May. Also, moderate rains were seen over Sangli at 15 mm and Kolhapur at 12 mm.

A trough is extending from Southeast Madhya Pradesh to Coastal Karnataka across Vidarbha and Marathwada. Light rain and thundershowers with strong winds are expected to continue over Vidarbha and Marathwada.
South Madhya Maharashtra and South Konkan will also see some rainfall. Cities including Sangli, Satara, Solapur, Pune, Osmanabad, Akola and Vengurla may receive thundershowers today.
North Madhya Maharashtra is expected to remain very hot and cities of Malegaon, Jalgaon will continue to see maximums settling above normal. Heatwave like conditions will persist over these areas.
Mumbai is expected to remain very warm and humid with few clouds making an appearance over the city. Rains are expected to remain far away from the city of Mumbai.
