The Northeast regions of the country have been seeing lesser Monsoon rains with heavy showers remaining out of sight. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Majbat recorded 51 mm of rain, Imphal 19 mm, Golaghat 15 mm, North Lakhimpur 12 mm, and Guwahati 4 mm.
Even in the coming days, we do not expect flooding rains over Northeast India which means residents can heave a sigh of relief. The reason for lesser rains over the region can be attributed to a Cyclonic Circulation over North Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast. Another system will form in the West Central Bay of Bengal.
Whenever there is a system in the Bay of Bengal, rains over Northeast India remain normal and below normal as winds become easterlies over the Northeast India region.
