Rains in Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Dahanu, Mangaluru, Karwar, Honavar to continue

The West Coast is the rainiest pocket during the Southwest Monsoon season and good rainfall activity is seen over the entire stretch. As reiterated by Skymet Weather, rains over this pocket have been quite significant in the past 24 hours for at least the Konkan and Goa region as well as the Coastal Karnataka region. Moreover, Mumbai has also witnessed three-digit rains during the same time frame.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Santa Cruz in Mumbai recorded 131 mm of rains, Karwar saw 121 mm, Alibag 87 mm, Colaba in Mumbai 75 mm, Honavar 68 mm, Harnai 59 mm, Vengurla 40 mm, Goa 29 mm, and Ratnagiri 23 mm.

Rainfall intensity is expected to remain the same and even increase in some parts of the Konkan and Goa region along with some parts of Coastal Karnataka region. In fact, rains will be between intermittent to continuous for the next three to four days.

Cities including Mangaluru, Mumbai, Dahanu, Ratnagiri, Alibag, Mahabaleshwar, Karwar, Harnai, Honavar are expected to see moderate to heavy showers.

On the other hand, the state of Kerala is expected to receive rains of lesser intensity and only light showers with isolated moderate rains only.
