Rains in Kerala to reduce now, massive relief expected around Nov 17

The state of Kerala has been battling flooding conditions with heavy rains lashing the state for the past few days. Due to these rains, ground is saturated, dams are full, water bodies are full, water is being released, which is compounding the problem. Many people have been shifted to safe places owing to the heavy rainfall activity.

In the last 24 hours as well, heavy showers were witnessed in some parts of the state. In fact, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Punalur recorded three digit rains of 117 mm, Alappuzha 53 mm, Thiruvananthapuram 47 mm, Kannur 36 mm, Kozhikode 22 mm, and Thrissur 19 mm.

Heavy rains are expected to be seen over the state of Kerala for the next 12 hours or so. Thereafter, rains will reduce a bit, and moderate showers are expected to be seen tomorrow. Rains will reduce to simply being light by November 17.

The cyclonic Circulation over Kerala and Karnataka Coast, which is responsible for giving rains over Kerala is gradually shifting up and away from the coast. Thus, rainfall activity will reduce after tomorrow to quite an extent and only light rains will be witnessed.
