Good rains have been seen over the state of Gujarat during this Monsoon season. So much so that both the subdivisions are in the surplus category. Gujarat region is at 80 percent surplus, and Saurashtra Kutch is surplus by 52 percent. However, now a respite is expected in terms of rainfall activity and no significant rains for the next ten days.
The Depression that was hovering over Central India, weakened into well marked low, moved towards Rajasthan and thereafter, shifted towards Pakistan, away from the Indian mainland. Thus, in the wake of the system, winds are southwesterly from the Arabian Sea.
Thus, light rains may be seen over the next 24 hours. This activity will be of passing nature, being seen at a few places, and light in nature. August 26 onward, until the end of the month, the state of Gujarat is expected to see dry weather. The same dry spell may spill over to the first few days of September as well.
