After observing a prolonged dry period, the states of Punjab and Haryana recorded some rainy spells today morning. We must say that rain gods have blessed these regions, which were reeling under the brunt of warm and arid weather conditions.

These rain and thundershowers could be attributed to the Western Disturbance that can be seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. In association to this weather system, there is an induced cyclonic circulation, which is over east central Pakistan and adjoining Northwest Rajasthan and Haryana.
Hence, dust storm and thundershowers along with high velocity winds are expected over many places of Haryana such as Ambala, Bhiwani, Faridabad, Fatehabad, Gurugram, Hisar, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Mahendragarh, Mewat, Palwal, Panchkula, Panipat, Rewari, Rohtak, Sirsa, Sonepat and Yamuna Nagar during the next 24 hrs.

Similarly in Punjab, places like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Patiala, Bhatinda, Jalandhar and Kapurthala may see dust storm and thundershowers during the next 24 hrs.
As per meteorologists at Skymet Weather, the sky would remain cloudy to overcast on Monday. This would be accompanied with dust storm and thundershowers of varying intensity. In fact, few areas could also witness intense rainy spell and squally winds.
It is expected that when the sun will come up during the afternoon hours, paving way for clear sky conditions. However, the likelihoods of thundershowers cannot be ruled out during the latter part of the day. Such weather conditions are likely to continue for the following next two to three days.
While, these rains might have brought relief from scorching heat but threat of crop damage looms large over parts of the both the states. The crop in both the states is almost ready for harvesting and these unseasonal rains can cause extensive damage to crop.
