Initially, in the month of June, West Madhya Pradesh had received good rains, while East Madhya Pradesh lagged behind. June ended with a surplus of 14 % over West Madhya Pradesh.

East Madhya Pradesh received light rains occasionally, therefore, it ended with a deficiency of 12%. During first two to three days of July, few good spells of rain occurred over eastern parts of the state and brought down the rain deficit from 12% to 3%. But since the beginning of July West Madhya Pradesh is almost dry. Therefore the rain surplus of 14 % has come down to a marginal deficit of 3%.

Now we expect that the entire state will remain dry for the next two to three days. Around July 11, we expect the cyclonic circulation which is currently over Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh will move in a southwest direction towards Madhya Pradesh.

This weather system will increase the rain over the state and once again, we expect that good rains to occur over most parts of the state from July 11 and may continue for another four to five days over Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Ujjain ending the long dry spell. Currently, the weather is sultry and warm but it will likely become comfortable as rain arrives.
