Winter rains have swept entire northwestern plains on Monday afternoon. Not only this, rain belt also covered parts of West Gujarat. Places like Dwarka and Ockha recorded rains of varying intensity with intense hailstorm.

While rains brought cheers to some, hailstorm can be bad news for the farmers. Especially, Cumin crop faces the maximum threat as they are in grain maturity stage. These rain and hailstorm could damage the crop, which are about to get harvested in February.

As per the experts, if these rain and hailstorm continue for few more days, spices could get impacted in terms of quality that may not be fit for export.

According to Skymet Weather, an active Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir, which had induced a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan. A trough is seen running this system to Sindh and West Gujarat.

This has been attracting humid winds from Arabian Sea over parts of Gujarat, resulting in rains and thundershowers. Further, weathermen are predicting more rains for West Gujarat for another 24 hours, but intensity would continue to be light only.  Chances of hailstorm also cannot be ruled out during this time.

Places such as Dwarka, Porbandar and Junagarh would see rain and thundershowers along with hailstorm.
