Rain in Delhi brings mercury 10 degree below normal, coolest day of the season
Today Delhi and NCR region has observed the coolest day of the season. This can be credited to drop in maximum temperatures that settled around 30°C, which is 10 degrees below normal levels.
Though heavy spells were not witnessed by Delhiites, but on and off light rain activity with overcast sky has continued throughout the day, leading to pleasant weather conditions.
According to Skymet Weather, the trough that was running along the national capital has become less marked. In wake of this, temperatures are likely to increase from tomorrow and the pre-Monsoon activities will take a backseat for now. While light rain or thunderstorm activity is expected over the region, but continuous cloud cover will remain absent.
Rains, hailstorm make Delhi pleasant; more showers likely
Delhi rains have decided to pay a visit and they have been in town for a good long time. In fact, the national capital has been observing on and off rainfall for the past 48 hours. In fact, yesterday also, parts of Delhi and the NCR region received a few good spells of rain.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, the Palam observatory recorded traces of rainfall. Other areas including Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, RK Puram, Connaught Place, Green Park, etc. also witnessed a few spells of dust storm, thunderstorm accompanied with some rainfall activity over isolated pockets.
Not only this, hailstorm was also recorded at a few places with strong winds. Several trees were also uprooted in many parts of the city.
These weather conditions are attributed to the presence of two weather systems. One of them is the cyclonic circulation over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan while the other system happens to be over Northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas.

With yesterday’s rain, the temperature back then witnessed a drop of a whopping 12 degrees during the then scenario. The minimum temperature had dropped to a good 21.3 degrees after rains, strong winds accompanied by isolated hailstorm did lash the national capital.
As per weathermen at Skymet, weather conditions are favourable for some more weather activity today as well. In fact, some thunderstorm along with rain will keep Delhi pleasant throwing those Monday blues far away.
It is time to take a short leave from work then and enjoy a long drive in the evening when Delhi rains visit.
