The state of Gujarat has had a tough Monsoon period with rains being on the lower side. In fact, the state is one of the most deficient pockets in the country as not much activity has been seen during the core Monsoon months.

However, there has been some marginal relief as good rains have lashed a few parts of the state after the longest time. Three digit rainfall has also been recorded in a few areas. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Amreli recorded a whopping 111 mm of rains, followed by Valsad at 108 mm, Surat 22 mm, Mahuva 17 mm, Bhavnagar 7 mm, and Surendranagar 7 mm.

These rains have been attributed to the trough extending from Gujarat along with that, whenever a system travel across the coast and is over the Madhya Pradesh region, moist winds from Arabian Sea also start to feed moisture over the Gujarat region, resulting in some rainfall activity, which has been the case at present.

Talking about the forecast, South Gujarat including Surat, Navsari, Valsad and the coastal parts of Saurashtra including Amreli, Bhavnagar may see some rains for the next 24-48 hours. However, Kutch region is expected to remain dry.

After three days or so, conditions will once again become grim over the state and these rains will not do much in terms of the deficiency that has constantly been mounting up.
