During the last 24 hours, a significant reduction in rain activities was witnessed over Uttar Pradesh. However, isolated light rains continued over parts of Uttar Pradesh such as Gorakhpur and nearby areas.

Looking at the rain figures, while Shahjahanpur recorded 13 mm rains, Bareilly received 1 mm rains. Now, we do not expect any weather activities over Uttar Pradesh for at least the next four to five days.

Until now, both West and East Uttar Pradesh are significantly rain surplus. As of March 15, East Uttar Pradesh is surplus by 808% while West Uttar Pradesh is surplus by 741%. East Uttar Pradesh has received 35.4 mm of rains against the normal of 3.9 mm whereas West Uttar Pradesh has received 45.4 mm against the normal of 5.4 mm.

This pre-Monsoon season started with a rainy note for entire Uttar Pradesh and these unseasonal rains have caused substantial damage to many crops of wheat, mustard and pulses due to heavy rains, strong winds, lightning strikes as well as hailstorm activities.

Now, however a relief is in sight over Uttar Pradesh in terms of rains. Another spell can be expected around March 20. While the western parts of Uttar Pradesh might receive rains around March 19 or 21 in the wake of an upcoming fresh Western Disturbance, East Uttar Pradesh will get rain activities around March 21.
