Gujarat has been reeling under prolonged dry and hot weather conditions lasting for over a month now and this was all due to the absence of any significant weather system. The maximums that were touching the sky and settling above the 42-degree mark, will witness a marginal drop.
The month of May has brought some good news for the state of Gujarat. To break this monotonous elongated dry spell, few pre-Monsoon showers lashed few parts of the state during the last 24 hours.
In fact, Rajkot has already witnessed some pre- Monsoon showers. The last 24 hours, in particular, have been quite a good one for Rajkot. So much so that the city has received 12 mm of rainfall in this time of the month.
As per Skymet Weather, a trough is seen extending from Central Pakistan to Saurashtra and Kutch. Due to this, moderate winds blowing from Arabian Sea had increased the moisture in Rajkot. High temperatures and humidity helped in formation of thundery clouds over this region during the afternoon hours. This has resulted in short spells of rain, thundershower and thunderstorm activities were witnessed in this area.
Further, we expect weather to clear up and weather conditions are likely to go dry now onwards.

As per the statistics, rainfall during May is very rare. But this season has been different. We have observed that in the last few years, this is the second highest rainfall recorded in Rajkot in span of 24 hours.
