Analyzing the weather conditions over the entire state of Maharashtra, it continues to remain dry and warm that included the sub-divisions of Vidarbha and Marathwada.
In fact, the current maximum temperatures have been settling marginally above the normal levels over Vidarbha and Marathwada. While at the same time frame, minimum temperatures are settling near normal to marginally below the normal levels.

However, there are some exemptions which are still recording day maximums around the 40-degree mark such as Akola 42°C, Parbhani 41.5°C, Chandrapur 41°C, Amravati 41°C, Yeotmal 41°C, Nagpur 41°C, Beed 40.5°C, Nanded 40.5°C and Aurangabad 40°C.
The meteorologists at Skymet Weather predict dry weather to linger over the region for another 24 to 48 hours. Subsequently, there are chances of some rains over Vidarbha as well as Marathwada. All thanks to a north-south trough which is expected to extend from central parts of the country up to Peninsular India across the mentioned sub-divisions of Maharashtra.
Thus, scattered rain and thundershowers will bring some respite, leading to drop in the maximums by three to four degrees. Moreover, we expect the intermittent showers to continue until April 10. This pre-Monsoon activity is also likely to be accompanied by hailstorm over isolated places.
At this juncture, let’s have a brief outlook of the impact of these weather conditions over the agriculture:
Farmers are advised to provide irrigation to the vegetable crops and orchards to minimize the chance of evaporation.
With the rains coming up, farmers are advised to keep the harvested produce of Wheat, Jowar and Chickpea in safer places. Further, they are suggested to not harvest the turmeric crop and store the harvested onions at risk free places.
Moreover, with rain on cards, we recommend the farmers to undertake the April pruning in Grape orchard after April 13, and as there are chances of hailstorm over isolated places, so they should take care of orchards by providing mechanical support to fruit plants like Oranges, Mango and propping in Sugarcane and Banana.
