A fresh spell of rains is approaching the famous Hindu shrine of Vaishno Devi. According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir and is presently marked over North Pakistan and adjoining areas.
In wake of the upcoming system, sky has already become cloudy to partly cloudy and rains are likely to follow soon during the next 24 hours. However, rain and thundershowers will be light in nature and is not likely to disrupt yatra.
In fact, the approaching system has improved the weather conditions over the shrine which is located in the hills of Jammu and Kashmir. The cloud cover and increased levels of humidity have increased the minimum temperatures, which are now settling above normal.
Meanwhile, maximum temperatures have dropped by a degree or two but are still in the comfortable range.
However, pilgrims need to be careful as rains may lead to slippery roads.
In August, heavy rains had triggered landslide near the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Reasi. The natural calamity had claimed four lives, while a dozen people were injured.
Landslide occurred at Banganga-Ardhkuwari road when large rocks had fallen over a shelter home where pilgrims were resting.
