Updated on December 08, 2015: An induced cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan is likely to move in an eastward direction. As the system reaches the central parts of Uttar Pradesh, a north-south trough will be formed extending up to Telangana region.
This trough is expected to gradually move in an eastward direction. Owing to this, mainly cloudy sky conditions will be observed over parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and South Madhya Pradesh.
December 11 onwards, patchy rainfall in some parts of the above mentioned states is expected. These rains are likely to continue till December 13, and may result in a marginal drop in temperatures.
Story first published on December 5, 2015: Fresh spell of rains and thundershowers are expected over Madhya Pradesh and several parts of Uttar Pradesh. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, a trough extending from Gujarat to North Madhya Pradesh will be responsible for the wet spell over both the states between December 10 and 12.
Affected areas will include major cities such as Gwalior, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore and Guna in Madhya Pradesh. While in Uttar Pradesh, it will include places such as Lucknow, Bundelkhand, Jhansi, Kanpur and Banda.
Meanwhile by that time, an active Western Disturbance would also have given fairly widespread rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir. This will lead to change in wind pattern over entire North and Central India.
These rains combined with chilly northwesterly winds will lead to drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures by at least two to three degrees by December 13 and 14.
As per Skymet, people of the region now start experiencing cold during the day time in spite of ample sunshine.
The rain activity will be beneficial for farmers, as it will restore the moisture levels in the soil ahead of sowing season of Rabi crop.
