Rains and thundershowers ahead for Saurashtra and Kutch beginning January 27

Dry weather conditions are continuing over the state of Gujarat for the last few days. At present, the sky conditions are mainly clear over most parts. Light to moderate surface winds are blowing over the state. Also, light mist and haze was prevailing during the morning hours today.

Similar weather conditions are likely to continue for another 24 to 36 hours. All these weather conditions are prevailing as seasonal weather pattern and no significant rain is being seen in surrounding of the state.

During the last 24 hours, sky conditions have become partly cloudy to cloudy. Presently, the Western Disturbance is moving across North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir region. Its associated induced Cyclonic Circulation is developing over East central parts of Pakistan and adjoining parts of West Rajasthan. An upper air Trough is extending from this system, to Northeast Arabian Sea across Kutch region.

All these systems would be moving East-northeastwards. Hence, light spells of rain and thundershower is likely at isolated places over Saurashtra and Kutch on January 27 and 28 which will turn out very beneficial for this dry region. Places like Naliya, Bhuj, Kandla, Jamnagar, Surendranagar and parts of Rajkot may experience very light rains. Other parts of the state are likely to remain dry.
