The three-month long pre-monsoon season was mainly dry for Pune. In the month of May, the city had recorded light rainfall only on two occasions, falling far behind the monthly normal rainfall of 40.6 mm.
Now as we enter in June, we can expect rainfall to increase over Madhya Maharashtra including Pune.
According to Skymet Weather, rain activity is likely to pick up pace from June 4 wherein on and off rains will continue over the next few days. Intensity of rain activity is likely to peak between June 6 and June 8 as a cyclonic circulation which is presently over southeast Arabian Sea will move along the West Coast in northerly direction.
The system is also likely to get more marked and thus, increasing rains over Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra including Mumbai and Pune.
In wake of this approaching wet spell, day temperatures that are presently settling in higher 30s will dip and settle between 32°C and 35°C.
Moving further, fairly comfortable weather will prevail over Pune as we expect Southwest Monsoon to arrive over the city by June 12 or June 14.
As per the weathermen, this time West Coast is likely to receive good Monsoon showers and hence, Pune is also likely to get its fair share.
