Torrential Rains in Gujarat

The state of Gujarat was observing mainly dry weather conditions since long. Only some isolated places managed to receive light to moderate rains over southeast parts of the state. These dry weather conditions were prevailing as no significant system was seen in Gujarat’s vicinity.

Presently, an upper air Cyclonic Circulation is lying over East-central parts of Arabian at mid-tropospheric levels. Another Cyclonic Circulation lies over Maharashtra at lower tropospheric levels. This system is likely to move westwards.

Hence, the Southern parts of Gujarat will be affected by these systems in the form of light to moderate rains. The northern parts of Gujarat however, are likely to remain dry. Though light rains cannot be ruled out at isolated places here as well.

Light to moderate rains will continue in spells over southern parts of Gujarat. Places like Surat, Valsad, Navsari, Vadodara, Ahemdabad, Gandhinagar, Junagarh, Mahua, Vairaval, Anand, etc will receive these light to moderate rains.

These weather conditions will continue during the next two to three days. Due to increase of clouding and rainfall activity, the day temperatures are likely to decrease.

As a relief to farmers, due to the occurrence of these rains, crops like groundnut, Jowar, Bajra, sugarcane, cotton, tilhan, etc would be benefitted.
