February 23, 2020 12:07 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Light rain and thunderstorm activities have been occurring at a few places in the state of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal during the last 24 hours. The maximums decreased slightly while a rise in the minimums has been witnessed during the same period. The sky conditions remained partly cloudy to cloudy in all the above-mentioned states.

According to the weather models at Skymet Weather, we expect similar weather conditions to continue in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal for the next two to three days.

These weather conditions will be seen under the influence of a wind confluence zone which is developing across East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts of Uttar Pradesh. Also, an anti-cyclonic circulation has developed over the North Bay of Bengal. This anticyclonic circulation is feeding moisture over the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal from the Bay of Bengal. With all these weather systems, a feeble Western Disturbance is also moving across the higher latitudes.

The combined effect of all the above-mentioned weather systems will give rain and thundershowers in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal including the city of Kolkata for the next two to three days.

Places like Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Shantiniketan, Malda, 24-Parganas, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Chatra, Daltonganj, Gaya, Patna, Lakhisarai, Purnia, Katihar, Madhubani, and Champaran are likely to see these rain and thundershower activities during the next two to three days. With these weather activities, hailstorms are also expected to occur at isolated places in all three states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

Due to ongoing rainfall activities and an increase in clouding, the maximum temperatures are also likely to fall marginally while the minimums will rise gradually.

All these rainfall activities will be very beneficial for rabi crops like wheat, sugarcane, mustard, grams, peas and etc.
