The depression over Jharkhand and adjoining areas has weakened gradually into a well-marked low-pressure area. And this weather system is presently seen close to Southwest Bihar and adjoining East Uttar Pradesh. This system is likely to travel in a west direction gradually weakening as it moves.
But even with the weakened weather system, East Uttar Pradesh is likely to continue with overcast sky and frequent spell of rains during next 24 hours. And the northern parts of East Uttar Pradesh will continue with moderate spells with isolated heavy rain.
In the last 24 hours, rainfall recorded over various stations are: Aligarh 20.6 mm, Bareilly 56.8 mm, Kanpur 36.2 mm, Lucknow 15.4 mm, Meerut 19.0 mm, Muzaffarnagar 23.4 mm and Varanasi 41.2 mm.
West Uttar Pradesh will receive increased amounts of rainfall during next 24 hours. This increased intensity of rains can be attributed to the movement of the west hand of Axis of Monsoon trough. The axis of Monsoon trough is expected to move in a northerly direction.
At present East Uttar Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh both the subdivisions have experienced normal Monsoon rainfall. Both the regions are at normal rainfall figure at 7% but it is East Uttar Pradesh that is on the negative side of the normal whereas West Uttar Pradesh is on the positive side of the normal rains.
These rainfall figures of Uttar Pradesh are expected to increase due to the rains caused by the multiple weather systems.
