Most parts of East India have been receiving rain since the last 24 hours. A cyclonic circulation is over North Bay of Bengal and Gangetic West Bengal is extending up to 7.6 km to the upper tropospheric level. Under the influence of this cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area may form.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Daltonganj received 150 mm of rain, Kolkata (29 mm), Bankura (26.9 mm), Barhampur (28 mm), Midnapore (24 mm), and Digha 22.9 mm. Gangtok in Northeast India also recorded 30.2 mm of rain. Bihar has observed light rain in some pockets. While Gaya recorded 5.6 mm of rain, Patna and Bhagalpur received 0.7 mm and 1.8 mm of rain, respectively.
Rain and thundershowers are likely to continue at many parts over the Gangetic plains, Jharkhand and adjoining North Odisha with isolated heavy fall at a few pockets. The decreased intensity of rainfall will continue over Bihar and adjacent sub Himalayan West Bengal for next 3 to 4 days.
For Northeast India, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over the Nagaland belt. But, the hills of Northeast Arunachal Pradesh and upper Assam will be observing subdued rainfall activity with a rise in temperatures as well as humidity levels. On the other hand, lower parts of Northeast India may receive scattered rain.
