The state of Karnataka has seen varied rainfall activity this season. So far, Coastal Karnataka has seen 1 percent of rainfall which is normal, and Interior Karnataka has recorded surplus rains of 24 percent. On the other hand, South Interior Karnataka has recorded -49 percent of deficient rainfall.

Since the last few days, on and off rains have been going on over North Interior Karnataka due to which the region has been rain surplus.

Now, a trough is extending from eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh to Kerala across Karnataka. Due to this, we expect scattered rain and thundershowers to occur over many parts of North Interior Karnataka and isolated showers over Coastal Karnataka for the next 48 hours.

Around April 8 and 9, another spell of rains is likely over Karnataka. During that time, rain intensity will be more over the southern districts as a trough will extend from Telangana to South Interior Karnataka during that time. Bengaluru may also see light rains during that time.

This season is not a rainy one, and rainfall activity only occurs on account of a north south trough which forms during this time. Due to these rains, temperatures are expected to take a dip during that time.
