Here's a look at the rainfall figures in East India during last 24 hours:

In Odisha, Chandbali recorded 69 mm of rain, Bhubaneswar 21 mm, Puri 15 mm, Keonjhargarh 7 mm and Sambalpur 4 mm.

Skymet Weather predicts that during next 24 hours fairly widespread rains will continue over Jharkhand, parts of Southeast Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

Rain activity will reduce over most parts of Bihar and foothills of East Uttar Pradesh. As the Monsoon trough is now passing through southern parts of the northern plains, South Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.

So far, most of the eastern states have witnessed below normal Monsoon rains. Jharkhand has received 20% less rains than normal. Bihar is rainfall deficient to the tune of 6% while Odisha is observing 20% less rains.

Only West Bengal has received 3% surplus rains and as on July 30. We do not expect very heavy rains over East India over the next few days. Therefore, rainfall deficiencies in East India could increase further.
