Rain in Kolkata

After experiencing good amounts of rainfall, the intensity has reduced in the states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha.

During the last 24 hours, scattered rains, mainly light in intensity with isolated moderate spells were observed in parts of these states. Sambalpur recorded 23 mm of rain, Jamshedpur 3 mm and Balasore 4 mm in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is lying over North Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal. A Trough is extending from this system up to the North Bay of Bengal. This system is likely to merge with the Low-Pressure Area, which is moving eastwards from North Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, an upper air Trough is tilting southwestwards with heights.

In the wake of these systems, scattered moderate rains are likely over South Odisha and North Jharkhand while isolated activities are likely in parts of West Bengal during next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the remaining parts of the states would record light rain and thundershower activities.

The meteorologists at Skymet have predicted a marginal increase in the rainfall activities after 24 hours over North Jharkhand, central parts of West Bengal and South Odisha.

During this episode, Kolkata will observe slightly warm and humid weather with chances of one or two spells of light rain. A similar condition is likely in Ranchi as well.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar and Siliguri may record scattered light to moderate rain with cloudy sky and comfortable weather conditions.
