Rain to revive over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka

Rain activities have increased over Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu during last 24 to 48 hours. A cyclonic circulation is over Southwest Bay of Bengal, and another cyclonic circulation is a developing over southeast and adjoining South Central Arabian Sea.

A trough will be extending from Southwest Bay of Bengal to Southeast Arabian Sea across Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Rain activities will be moderate over many parts of Tamil Nadu Kerala, coastal Karnataka as well as South interior Karnataka during next 3 to 4 days. Isolated heavy spells cannot be ruled out.

Weather of Rayalaseema, North interior Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh will remain almost dry with isolated rain activities. There may be scattered rain activities over Northern districts of Telangana during this period.

South Peninsula remained most rain surplus a during Southwest monsoon with overall 111% rain of LPA. Except Lakshadweep all states of South Peninsula remained either normal or excess. Southwest Monsoon usually complete its withdrawal by October 15.

Northeast monsoon sets in after October 15. We expect on and off rain to continue over Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala until onset of Northeast monsoon. There will not be any dry spell until then.
