Delhi and the NCR region has been receiving scattered Monsoon rains for the past two to three days. In fact, several areas have been receiving short spells of sharp showers as well. Weather conditions have also become pleasant over the national capital.

The city recorded some good spells of rain during the last 24 hours as well. Palam observatory recorded a good 22 mm of rainfall. Other areas in the city to have received some rains include Ayanagar 0.2 mm, Ridge 0.8 mm and Safdarjung 1.4 mm.

While Delhiites couldn’t have asked for more to make their long weekend all the more enjoyable, these rains may play spoilsport at the Independence Day celebrations tomorrow.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at the Red Fort. A multi-layer security arrangement has been organized in and around the Red Fort and its adjoining areas. Over 8000 security personnel which includes 5000 policemen have been deployed to ensure the security management over the region.

The national capital may witness scattered rainfall activity on August 15 which may hinder the celebratory event to a slight extent. In fact, the possibility of a few good spells of rain during the next 24 hours also cannot be ruled out.
