Rain to make an appearance over Rajasthan

March 6, 2017 5:02 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Ever since the start of 2017, rainfall has not made a promising appearance over Rajasthan. After being dry for long period of time, it is finally the turn of Rajasthan to witness some good rainy spell.

At present, a Western Disturbance which is over North Pakistan and adjoining area is expected to start affecting Jammu and Kashmir soon enough. Due to this weather system, an induced cyclonic circulation may form over West Rajasthan in the next 24 hours.

Chief meteorologist Mahesh Palawat at Skymet Weather says, “Light rain activities will commence initially over North Rajasthan in the next 24 hours, thereafter the rain activity will spread over many areas of the state. West and Central parts of Rajasthan will receive light rain and thundershowers.”

Due to dry weather conditions, the temperatures both minimums and maximums were very high over most parts of Rajasthan. Due to the cloud cover over most parts of the state, the maximum temperatures which was in higher 30°Cs has now dropped to lower 30°Cs and is near normal.

On the other hand, minimum temperature at many places is below normal by 1-2°C. With such rainy spell in offing, day temperatures will remain almost same range but due to cloud cover we can expect minimums to rise by 2-3°C.

Rajasthan will receive light rain on March 7 and slowly and gradually spread across the region. Thereafter another fresh Western Disturbance will once again induce a cyclonic circulation over the region. So another rainy spell is expected by March 9 & 10 again.
