Rain to lash Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Bengaluru for the next 2 days

May 18, 2019 2:34 PM |

Rains are continuing over most parts of South India since the last 2 to 3 days.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation persists over South Karnataka. A trough is also extending from South Chhattisgarh up to South Tamil Nadu across Telangana and parts of Kerala. Due to the persistence of these two systems South Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and Kerala will continue receiving rain and thundershower activity with gusty winds towards afternoon and evening hours for the next 2 days.

Now, the intensity of rain and thundershower is likely to decrease over Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coast.  While rains will continue with the same intensity over Kerala with one or two moderate spells in pockets, during the next 48 hours.

As warm and dry northwesterly winds are blowing in Telangana, the northern parts of the state are likely to continue observing heat wave like conditions in some parts.  Hyderabad is also likely to see above normal temperatures during the day. Night will also remain warm in the region. Also, most parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu will continue to suffer hot and humid weather during the next 24 to 48 hours.

The city of Chennai will witness very warm and humid day. Although patchy clouds may appear during the day, no relief is likely.

There are some chances of light rain and thundershower in Bengaluru with gusty winds towards the afternoon.

Hyderabad will see a rather uneasy and hot weather with a warm morning.

Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi too will remain very warm and humid. Rain and thundershower is likely towards the afternoon and evening hours.
