Dense to shallow fog continued to affect the visibility in parts of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Sunday morning. While the visibility at Palam and adjoining areas was 50 meters from 5:30 am to 8:30 am, it settled around 500 meters in parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Weather in North India, particularly in Delhi could be foggy for the next two days with low to very low visibility expected at Palam and nearby locations. Others parts of Delhi could witness shallow fog and misty mornings just as today.

On the other hand rainy weather in Central and South India in the last couple of days could decrease from Monday onwards. In the last 24 hours good amounts of rain left many parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh wet.

Here are some cities which received rain in the last 24 hours : Ranchi – 31.8 mm, Jhamshedpur – 6.3 mm, Daltonganj – 8 mm, Jabalpur – 17 mm, Pendra – 13 mm, Gaya – 7.2 mm, Purnia – 5.1 mm, Bareilly – 12 mm, Satna – 18 mm, Kurnool – 24 mm, Bangalore – 4 mm and Thiruvananthapuram - 31 mm.

“While rain occurred in parts of Central India due to a direct moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal, South India observed rain due to a wind discontinuity or a mixture of dry and moist winds from the land and the sea”, said a meteorologist at Skymet.

“Today rain could occur in Jharkhand, east Bihar, parts of West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. However, rain could decrease significantly from most of these states from tomorrow onwards. Weather could become drier and maximum temperatures which are recording 4 to 7 degrees below normal (especially in Central India) may start rising.
