The trough of the low pressure system, which is prevailing in Bay of Bengal, has given isolated light rainfall over northeastern states. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the rainfall is expected to continue for another 24 hours.
In a span of 24 hours,Dhubriin Assam has recorded 29.9 mm of rain whereasLumdinghas recorded 11 mm of rain. Similarly in Meghalaya,Shillongrecorded 1.8 mm of rainfall.
In the state of Arunachal Pradesh,Itanagarrecorded 2.6 mm of rain, while Tawang dustrict recorded 15 mm of rainfall. Light snowfall was also reported in the higher reaches of the region and is expected to continue over Arunachal Pradesh for the next 24 hours.
According to Skymet, the system, which has been travelling along the east coast, has weakened considerably and has almost fizzled out.
The cyclonic disturbance has caused widespread rainfall over most parts of the country in last few days, including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, extending up to parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The system had also interacted with the Western Disturbance affecting North India and caused heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It also gave rain overDelhi, East and Central Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.
