Rain to continue over northwest; peninsular region heads for more showers

Rain is likely to increase over northwest region during the next 24 to 48 hours. Delhi will also witness increase in rains during the period. The cyclonic circulation over southwest Uttar Pradesh has shifted a little westward and now lies over northeast Rajasthan. The Western Disturbance, which is vital for rain in these parts, lies over Jammu & Kashmir and is now moving eastwards.

These weather system will bring rain at many places in the plains over Punjab, Haryana, east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. One or two places in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may also get heavy rain during the next 24 hours.

The cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand has moved southward and now lies over Chhattisgarh. Due to this weather system, rain will occur in eastern parts of the country over east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Orissa. But rain will decrease after 48 hours in these places as the weather system has already started to weaken.

Uttar Pradesh,Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal will have scattered light rain.Biharcould have isolated heavy rain.

The other significant weather system that will be instrumental for rain over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, lies off Andhra coast in west central Bay of Bengal. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and north coastal Tamil Nadu will have rain at many places during the next 24 to 48 hours. Rayalaseema will see increase in rain after the next two days.

Light to moderate rain is expected along the West coast. The commercial capital Mumbai will have to wait for showers for next few days. Rain will decrease over Kerala.

In northeastern states many places will receive light to moderate rain during the next two days due to southwesterly surge. Rain could be moderate along the foothills.
