Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country that has not gone completely dry since the onset of the monsoon. On the other hand, both Chhattisgarh and Odisha witnessed scanty rain until now. As on July 29, Odisha is deficient by 12% and Chhattisgarh by 9%.

The low-pressure area is over North Orissa and adjoining parts of Gangetic West Bengal. We expect light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells to continue over Odisha during the next 3 to 4 days. Many parts of Chhattisgarh may also witness good rain. There may be light to moderate rain over the Northern and Eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh for the next 2 days. Thereafter, rain will be concentrated over the Eastern district of Madhya Pradesh.

All three states will be receiving decent rainfall until August 4. Rain activities will start reducing thereafter. Light scattered rain is expected to continue over northeastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and the northern districts of Chhattisgarh. However, Odisha will not see any significant rain activities during the second week of August.
