Rain to bring down temperatures further in Delhi, North India

Delhi witnessed the coldest day of the season on 17th of January. With maximum temperature plummeting way below normal at 12.9°C, Delhiites shivered in cold day conditions. Intermittent light rain since last evening has significantly decreased the diurnal variation of temperature as the minimum recorded today morning was 8°C.

Fog in Delhi has cleared up to a large extent with shallow in most places including Dwarka, Faridabad, Karol Bagh, Model Town and Vasant Kunj. Vikas Puri was engulfed in a thick blanket of fog today morning and general visibility at the Palam airport was 300 meters. Flyers to and from the national capital heaved a sigh of relief as air operations remained smooth with only 10 flights being delayed till 7.30 a.m. However, many trains are still running several hours behind schedule.

Weather in North India

As predicted earlier, fog has abated and weather in North India has turned rainy. The Western Disturbance has brought in light rain in Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Occasional light rain continued in parts of Delhi throughout the night while, Amritsar, Chandigarh and Varanasi received light showers today morning.

Weather in East India

No respite from cold day conditions for people in Uttar Pradesh. Maximum temperatures are still below 16°C in several parts including Lucknow, Bareilly, Bahraich, Kanpur and Moradabad. The weather has cleared up in East India with shallow fog observed in Indore and Varanasi only.

Today cold day conditions will prevail in Delhi, parts of Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and north Madhya Pradesh.
