Scattered rains were seen over many parts of West Bengal during March end and the beginning of April. However, weather conditions over the state of West Bengal and its capital city, Kolkata have remained mostly dry for the past two to three days. The temperatures have been settling near the normal levels.

Currently, a cyclonic circulation is seen persisting over Northeast Jharkhand. Southeasterly winds from Bay of Bengal are also inducing moisture, due to which, scattered rain and thundershower activities during the coming days.
However, we expect scattered rains to commence over the northern districts of West Bengal by today evening. Gradually some other districts of central and Gangetic West Bengal will also start receiving scattered rain and thundershower activities.
Initially, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar and Dinajpur will receive rains. Later, places like Murshidabad, Bardhhaman, Nadia and Bankura will also start receiving scattered rain and thundershower activities.
The capital city Kolkata is also likely to receive scattered rain and thundershower activities during the next 2 – 3 days.
The maximum temperatures will also subside by 2°C - 3°C because of the change in weather conditions. meanwhile, these on and off pre-monsoon rains are expected to continue till April 9.
