As predicted by Skymet, rains have commenced over some parts of the northwestern plains. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Anandpur Sahib recorded 35 mm of rain, Ambala 27.2 mm, Patiala 27 mm, Chandigarh 21.6 mm, Jalandhar 12 mm and Ludhiana 8 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, a Western Disturbance is moving across Jammu and Kashmir region. It’s induced upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab region. This circulation was responsible for the rains over eastern parts of Punjab and North Haryana.

Dust storm, thundershower, and rain are expected to continue over parts of Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 to 48 hours. In fact, these pre-Monsoon rains, thundershower, and dust storm activities will also occur over Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan along with Punjab and Haryana.

The clouds will increase as the day will progress. Moreover, the wind speed will also decrease gradually. Thus, the dust blanket which is suspended in the atmosphere is likely to subside up after spell of rain and thundershower during this period giving some relief from the dusty air.

Meanwhile, remaining parts of Rajasthan will continue to reel under hot weather. Dust haze will continue to prevail.
