Light rain accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning were observed over the city of Gurugram on the midnight of Thursday. Indeed, cloudy sky continued to persist, with light showers over the region on Friday also.
This moderate pre-Monsoon shower of 22 m brought Gurugram to a standstill and turned it to Gurujam, as many internal roads and significant crossing points were water logged.

As per weathermen, with Monsoon approaching, these conditions may become an everyday affair on all rainy days. These rain and thundershowers can be attributed to a trough that is extending from Punjab up to Northeastern states. Also, a cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Punjab.
With these showers of brief span, the mercury level had curtailed down by six degrees. The maximum temperature settled at 35.2°C and the minimum was 21.6°C. It is anticipated that both day temperature will remain under 40-degree mark for the next 48 hours. Rain and thundershowers are likely in the next 24 hours as well.

The Delhi-Gurugram traffic had gravely affected the office goers that were coming to the city from Delhi and Noida. The traffic remained stifled almost till noon as both the core roads connecting the two cities, the expressway and MG Road was gridlocked. The central point of this froze on Friday was Rajiv Chowk on the expressway, where work is on to construct an underpass.
Gurugrammers took to the social media to query the administration’s lack of awareness and readiness for the Monsoon.
