Kolkata has been receiving rain in a continuous basis for the past three days. So much so that the city has recorded more than 50 mm of rain during this period. These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic storm Roanu which resulting in torrential rains over many areas of the country.

Due to this rainy spell, temperatures are settling below normal levels. Pleasant weather conditions are being observed over the city of joy. Yesterday, Kolkata recorded 30.7 degrees, which was five degrees below normal.

However, now temperatures will gradually rise over the city and reach near normal levels. Intermittent thundershowers which was occurring since last three days will be replaced by afternoon thundershower activities which will be of Pre-Monsoon nature. These weather activities may be accompanied with strong surface winds as well.

Kolkata is expected to receive some weather activity today evening and night. Isolated activity may occur tomorrow as well. However, after May 24, Pre-Monsoon thundershowers will decrease significantly. But due to moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal, isolated on and off thundery activity cannot be ruled out.

Warm and humid weather will make a comeback over the city of joy resulting in an increase in temperatures. Also, humidity levels will also witness an increase resulting in discomfort.
