Rain and snowfall forecast for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir

April 4, 2019 8:52 AM | Skymet Weather Team

Isolated light to very light rains are expected to commence over Jammu and Kashmir by tonight. The rain intensity is expected to further pick up pace over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh tomorrow onward. We expect Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh to get good rains and snow during next two days i.e. on April 5 and 6.

One or two places in these areas might also receive snowfall activities. Weather activities over Uttarakhand, however, will remain light and patchy.

The reason for these activities is being attributed towards the Western Disturbance that has approached the Western Himalayas at present.

These weather activities will not be very heavy or widespread, therefore no obstruction to road traffic is being forecast. Chances of avalanches are also very less. However, landslides may occur at one or two places over Himachal and Uttarakhand. Vaishno Devi will also receive rain and thundershower activities during this period. Effect of this Western Disturbance will also be felt over Northern Plains including the states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Northwest Rajasthan as well as over the western parts of Uttar Pradesh in the form of rain and thundershower activity combined with possibilities of dust-storm during this period.

April 7 onward, the Western Disturbance will move away eastward once again leading to dry weather conditions over entire hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
