Fresh western disturbance has reached North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh. A cyclonic circulation is marked up to medium levels. Medium and high clouds are persisting over the mid and higher reaches. Rain and snow will commence soon. Snowfall will be confined to the mountain slopes with elevation in excess of 15,000 feet. Higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh also will have light to moderate snow, late tonight or tomorrow morning.
Isolated and light rain and thundershowers are expected along the foothills of Jammu, Himachal and Chandigarh. Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Pathankot, Amritsar, Una, and Chandigarh may have light rainfall over the next two days, with more probability of having it late tonight/early morning. Interiors and farther parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi will be far from reach of the system.
After the passage of the system, northwesterly flow will settle down over the plains. Somewhat cooler winds from the mountain slopes will sweep the plains, right up to Delhi, North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh. A noticeable drop in temperature is likely, more so at the start of next week. A large spread of low temperatures, generally hovering in the low teens, will be witnessed over Punjab, North & East Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi. The minimum temperature has consistently dropped over Delhi for the last four consecutive days. There is a drop of nearly 3°C during this period. The base station at Safdarjung recorded a minimum of 15.6°C, today morning, the lowest of this season, so far. The capital city is likely to observe a low of 12°-13°C, during the first half of next week. These levels may rise once again with chances of another western disturbance arriving, close to next weekend, around 22nd November.
