Fairly widespread rain has been lashing Karnataka for the past few days. In fact, some areas have also recorded very heavy rains during the last 48 hours. Now, rains are all set to witness an increase and cover more parts of the state.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Karwar recorded a whopping 53 mm of rain followed by Mangalore where 23.2 mm rain was recorded. Other areas to have received rains include Gulbarga 29 mm, Honavar 10.6 mm, Agumbe 10.6 mm, Raichur 8.8 mm, Bijapur 1.8 mm, and Gadag 1.3 mm.
Now, during the next 24 hours, more parts of Karnataka will start receiving good rains particularly south and north interior parts of the state. These rains will be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is presently over Lakshadweep and adjoining Kerala. The system is expected to move along the coast towards the north.
The rainfall intensity of rains will increase by June 4 and fairly widespread rains will be observed over the state until June 8. During this period, the capital city, Bangalore will also receive on and off rains.
Thereafter, the rain belt will further shift towards coastal areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka. Then, Interior Karnataka will once again become mostly dry with light rains being observed over isolated pockets. These rains will also result in a drop in temperatures giving way for pleasant weather conditions over the state.
