Rain over weekend to bring back cold weather in North India

A fresh Western Disturbance will start giving rain over the plains of North India and Delhi from Friday evening or late night onwards. Consequently, day temperatures across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh will come down significantly over the weekend.

Temperatures in Delhi and North India

In Delhi, maximum touched 28.5°C on Thursday. In fact, in most places of Punjab, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh temperatures are above 25°C. On Sunday, maximum temperature is expected to settle around 22°C across the region. Even Hisar in Haryana is experiencing warm weather at present with maximum around 27°C.  Maximums in Ambala and Amritsar are at 25.5°C and 25.4°C, respectively.

But after this spell of rain, day temperatures across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh will drop significantly by 3-5°C. Maximums will easily settle around 20-23°C and rise once again as the multiple weather systems, western Disturbance in North India and cyclonic circulation in Central parts, moves away.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the minimum temperatures will witness a rise of 3-5°C, due to rain. Pleasant weather conditions under a clear sky will return in the region by Monday. Diurnal variation will be very low with drop in maximums and rise in minimums.
