As predicted by Skymet weather, during the last 24 hours, light rain occurred over many parts of Delhi-NCR region. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory recorded 4.3 mm of rain, followed by Palam 1.4 mm, Aya Nagar 3 mm and Ridge 3.4 mm.

These rains have been attributed to the Western Disturbance over northern parts of Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Along with its associated induced cyclonic circulation over North Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana.

As now, both the above weather systems are moving in east/northeast direction, spell of light rain and thundershower will continue during the next three to four hours over Delhi and its nearby areas of Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.

In fact, due to the occurrence of rain and change in wind direction, pollution levels over Delhi-NCR region will also decrease to some extent.

However, due to the presence of high moisture and decreasing temperatures, most parts of Delhi will observe dense fog during the morning hours on January 7.

Due to the presence of extensive clouding and rain, day is expected to remain cold. Moreover, significant fall in both day and night temperatures is also expected which may even lead to cold day condition over few places.
