The first few days of March brought some light rains for the northern states of Punjab and Haryana, thereby breaking the month-long jinx of the dry weather of both the states. After these rainy spells, the weather once again became dry.
However, now under the influence of the Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation, some rains are likely to occur over both the states.

As per Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance is approaching the Western Himalayan region. It’s induced cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan. In the wake of this, isolated light rain is expected to occur by March 20 over few parts of Punjab and at a few places of Haryana.

Districts like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ambala, Karnal, and Hisar are likely to get affected by these rain and thundershowers in the next 24 hours.
The intensity of rains is likely to increase by March 21 and by March 22, the weather of Haryana would start clearing up. However, the foothills of Punjab that includes the regions in proximity of Himachal Pradesh may continue to get one or two spells of rain on March 22 as well.
Both the states would become dry thereafter as no major weather system affecting both the regions is anticipated henceforth.
