Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay Gorakhpur a visit today where he is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of AIIMS hospital as well as the revival of the fertilizer plant as promised by him at the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2014.

The PM’s visit is four hours long and during this time along with laying the foundation stone, Modi will also address a saint conference. Not only this, PM Modi will also visit the Gorakhsnath Temple where he will unveil Mahant Avaidnath’s statue.

A mammoth public rally at the Fertilizer ground will also be addressed by the Prime Minister where several ministers including JP Nadda (Union Health Minister), Anant Kumar (Union Chemcials and Fertilizer Minister), Piyush Goel (Union Energy Minister), and Kalraj Mishra (Union MSME Minister) will mark their presence.

However, rain gods may decide to spoil the party. Gorakhpur lies in the foothills of Uttar Pradesh and the region has been witnessing good rains for quite some time now. In fact, light to moderate rainfall has occurred during the last 24 hours as well.

The picture looks no better right now as thunderclouds are hovering over Gorakhpur. Thus, the city is expected to receive rains during the next few hours which may hinder PM Modi’s important Gorakhpur visit.

Currently, a cyclonic circulation is over Bihar and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Also, the axis of the Monsoon trough is running close to the foothills of the Himalayas. Both these weather features will be responsible for bringing in rain over Gorakhpur.
