Kerala, Tamil Nadu, andPuducherryare all geared up for the single phase elections which will take place on May 16.
Usually, during this time, which happens to be thick of the Pre-Monsoon season, hot weather conditions are at their peak.Kerala, Puducherry andTamil Naduobserve high temperatures with humid weather conditions.
However, this year, a well-marked low pressure area has developed in Southwest Bay of Bengal, which is likely to become more marked and intensify into a depression thereafter. During that time, the system is moving closer to the coast of Tamil Nadu.
The system also has the potential of intensifying into a cyclonic storm.
Thus, on May 16, several areas includingChennai, Thiruvananthapuram and adjoining may receive good showers. The possibility of a stormy and rainy weather hindering the entire election process cannot be ruled out.
