Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry are all geared up for the single phase elections which will take place on May 16.
Usually, during this time, which happens to be thick of the Pre-Monsoon season, hot weather conditions are at their peak. Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu observe high temperatures with humid weather conditions.
However, this year, a well-marked low pressure area has developed in Southwest Bay of Bengal, which is likely to become more marked and intensify into a depression thereafter. During that time, the system is moving closer to the coast of Tamil Nadu.
The system also has the potential of intensifying into a cyclonic storm.
Thus, on May 16, several areas including Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and adjoining may receive good showers. The possibility of a stormy and rainy weather hindering the entire election process cannot be ruled out.
