The low pressure area over Orissa has moved westward and now lies over east Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. It is expected to move further westward and reach west Madhya Pradesh during the next 48 hours. Owing to this movement, rain may subsequently increase first over south Madhya Pradesh and then in the western parts of the state. So the rivers here could again swell posing a threat to the adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, the national capitalDelhiwill continue to witness rain at many places in the coming two days. Heavy rain may occur at isolated places here. The other parts of the northwest region will also have rain. Light to moderate rain will continue to occur over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand while east Punjab, Haryana, east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh will receive rain in next 48 hours.
The reason behind rain over these areas is a Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir and the axis of monsoon trough that passes through Ferozepur, Hissar,Meerut, Hamirpur , centre of low pressure area, Jharsuguda and Paradip. Consistent cloud cover and rain have dropped the temperatures by 2 to 6 degrees in the region.
In the east, a low pressure area lies over Jharkhand that will be influential in brining in moderate showers in east Uttar Pradesh,Biharand Jharkhand. One or two places will witness heavy rain in this region. Light to moderate rain will continue to occur in sub-Himalayan West Bengal,Sikkim and over Assam and Meghalaya with heavy to very heavy at isolated places. Southwesterly and southeasterly winds from the seas are providing moisture feed in these regions.
In centralPeninsula light rain is expected to occur over Vidarbha, Telangana, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Rain will remain subdued over Konkan & Goa coast. The off shore seasonal trough extending from Kerala to Karnataka coast will give moderate rain along these coasts.
Rain is expected to be light over south and north interior Karnataka, interior Maharashtra, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu but temperature in these regions would remain near normal due to northwesterly winds coming from the Arabian Sea.
