Rain likely to continue over north India for next 48 hours

The Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir and the cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan have together pulled in enough amount of moisture from the Arabian Sea to bring a period of rain and cloud cover over northwest region of the country. The weather is expected to prevail for another 24 to 48 hours.

During this period, moderate rain is expected at many places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, east and north Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh andDelhi. Isolated places could also receive heavy rain. Temperatures in the region will remain below normal.

The other region that is likely to be lashed by moderate to heavy rain is east coast, especially the Orissa and north Tamil Nadu coast. The cyclonic circulation off Andhra Pradesh and south Orissa coast will persist to give rain in these areas. One or two places in Andhra Pradesh, south Orissa, Vidarbha, Telangana and south east Madhya Pradesh could get heavy rain during the next two days. Rain in north Tamil Nadu will decrease from tomorrow onwards.

East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and north Orissa will also witness rain due to the axis of monsoon trough that passes through Ganganagar, Narnaul, Satna,Jamshedpur, Balasore and east central Bay of Bengal.

In the east, foothills of Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal andSikkimwill have moderate rain with heavy at isolated places during the next two days. Northeast too will have light to moderate rain except for westAssam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya where it will continue to be moderate.

Light to moderate rain will be received along the West coast. Konkan, Goa and Karnataka coast could have isolated heavy spells. Not much change is expected in Kerala due to the lack of a weather system here
