Rain likely to continue in Bihar, east UP

Cyclone Phailin has become a low pressure area that now lies over Bihar. Under the influence of this weather system rain will continue over Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh and sub-Himalayan West Bengal. It will also cause some rain in northeast region during the next 24 hours. The low pressure area will become less marked thereafter.

In the last 24 hours, Jamshedpur and Ranchi received 100 mm and 51 mm of rain in Jharkhand. Kolkata in Gangetic West Bengal recorded 83.8 mm of rain while Gaya, Patna and Bhagalpur in Bihar recorded 145 mm, 78 mm and 111 mm of rain respectively due to Cyclone Phailin.
